Improved PR title field UI
Background
Direct employers on Indeed Japan struggled to write effective PR titles for job posts, resulting in client onboarding and retention challenges. (PR titles are short catch copies intended to hook the job seeker into wanting to learn more about the job.)
I initially received a complaint from the sales team that the current PR title example provided in the helper text of the input field: “Workplace is close to X train station, so commuting is very convenient!” nudges users to copy the exact example and neglect other selling points of the job.
Problem Statement
How might we help employers create compelling PR titles without copying generic examples or requiring sales support?
UX Goals
Provide better guidance - Replace ineffective helper text with more useful examples and direction.
Enable personalization - Guide users to highlight their job's unique advantages.
Business Goals
Improve client onboarding - Reduce barriers for new clients posting their first jobs by making PR title creation easier.
Reduce support burden - Decrease ongoing support requests from existing clients struggling with PR title writing.
Enhance job post quality - Increase the effectiveness of PR titles to improve job visibility and candidate attraction.

Solution
Provide three example PR titles from real users with slight rewording (to avoid legal issues).
The first example emphasizes career growth, the second mentions flexible schedules & location convenience, and the third highlights the target demographic for the job & appealing employee benefits.
Rationale:
Provided examples for full-time and part-time positions to accommodate for differences in PR title wording/formatting styles amongst various job types.
Implement the popover component to display the example PR titles from a hyperlink that reads “View examples”.
Rationale:
Popover component provides the necessary real estate to display the three example PR titles. (Considered alternates such as the tooltip component, but readability wasn’t as clear with the amount of text shown.)
Hyperlink provides the most straightforward CTA to trigger the popover. (Considered an “i icon” CTA initially, but it wasn’t as straightforward.)
Revised the helper text to: “Write what you want to most convey to job seekers about your job in a short sentence. View examples”
(Helper text before: “Write a short sentence to promote the job.”)
Results
Problem Resolution
The solution directly addressed the core issues identified in research.
Replaced the ineffective, generic example with three diverse, real-world PR titles that serve as frameworks or inspiration for personalization.
Provided clearer guidance based on sales team best practices.
Limited Metrics Available
Due to tracking limitations and the project timeline, quantitative data on completion rates and support ticket reduction wasn't captured. However, overtime my solution will likely help improve client onboarding, reduce support burden, and enhance job post quality.
